Cliff recorded a fantastic nett 59 off his handicap of 20, but that still fell three short of Mike Griffiths’ winning score!

Denbigh resident, Mike, headed a field of 136 entries with his unbelievable score, which included three birdies off his handicap of 14, which is now slashed by three.

He had collected seven league points in the previous week’s competition with a score of five-up.

Mike, who is 64, had only just bought a new set of irons and was playing just his second round with them on Saturday.

It has always been his desire to record a nett score of less than his age and with this 56 he has well and truly achieved that ambition.
